3 Ways Video Security Can Save Money For Your Business

A video security system for your business is an investment that will save you money, not an expense that drags on your cash flow.

In some instances, the system will pay for itself quickly through a single instance of loss prevention. In other situations, the offsetting savings will accrue over several months through more efficient operations or reduction in questionable claims.

Here are 3 areas or ways where a video surveillance system can boost your bottom line:

Inventory Control and Property Loss Mitigation

A video surveillance system can help retail stores and distribution centers keep tabs on inventory.

Here’s a case study article from one of our commercial warehouse customers where the video footage helped solve the problem of a missing shipment. In this situation, the shipment never went out and the video footage revealed why.

In other situations, the video footage can be used to document situations involving property theft, damage to inventory, or vandalism.

With live remote monitoring, the surveillance system can be used to prevent theft or vandalism before it happens and/or catch the perpetrators on the scene. Real-time remote monitoring also allows for quick investigations of suspicious activity that may turn out to be benign.

Fewer Insurance Claims for Personal Injuries

Businesses that use video surveillance to monitor areas where customers have access should have a documentary record of any alleged slip-and-fall accidents or other incidents that might form the basis for a personal injury claim.

Surveillance video footage can also be useful in workers compensation claims situations to verify the circumstances surrounding an employee’s on-the-job injury.

Of course, you need to have the appropriate video retention and chain-of-custody protocols in place to make sure the video footage exists at the time a claim surfaces and qualifies for use as evidence. Those details are beyond the scope of this post.

Lower Insurance Premiums, Faster Resolution of Claims

If your video security system is resulting in fewer insurance claims for property loss or personal injury, you’ll probably be saving money in lower insurance premiums, as well. So in addition to reducing out-of-pocket payments for deductibles, you should be spending less on insurance.

To the extent you do have claims, the video footage can help to resolve claims more quickly, even if third-parties aren’t involved.

These aren’t the only ways that video surveillance systems can save you money. We’ll be writing more about these and other ways in upcoming articles here on the blog and in video webinar presentations, so be sure to contact us to be added to our contact list.
